I am going to start something new this year with this blog. I would like to give each day their own meaning and theme. I will keep the Monday Frugal Update and Whatnot, but every Friday I am going to post a frugal tip for everyone and hopefully keep them a bit unique!
This week's tip came to me while in the shower! Great ideas can happen when I am trying to be clean.
I am sure we are not the only household with half-used bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Sometimes we buy something new thinking it will be the cure-all for our hair needs. I would also like to include that we have 3-4 different hair types. Also, Dane will not use girl stuff. Got that?
What to do with all the half-used bottles of shampoo? I like to use them as body wash! However you want to look at it, at the end of the day shampoo is still just soap. Why waste it? Use it on your body! Smell good, stay clean!
If you have those 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner combos, consider it a bonus! You now have moisturizing body wash!
You can also dilute shampoo down a little bit and use it as hand soap. Just reuse a hand soap container, fill about a 1/3 to 1/2 with shampoo, add water, shake, and use!
Wait, you say! What about the conditioner? Honestly, we don't have a lot of conditioner sitting because we use it more than shampoo. All of our hair (except Dane) needs plenty of conditioner because all of our hair (except Dane) tangles like crazy!
However, I still have tips for half-used conditioner. First of all, conditioner makes a great shaving cream. Just slather conditioner on your legs away from the flow of the shower or above the water level in the tub, grab a razor, shave, and rinse. I find I have much less razor burn from using conditioner too!
Another cool tip for conditioner is to use it for in-shower body lotion. You know that cool stuff that Olay makes, but I can't justify spending money on it. Rub conditioner on your body, rinse off, and you have softer skin. I like my skin soft so this is all good!
I hope this helps you in your quest to use what you have and waste nothing!
Thanks for reading! Have a great day!
